Do You Trust What You See? Finding Perspective in the Age of AI

Playful collage of a woman clinging to a building facade, posing on faux windows and balconies; urban gray wall with number 9.

Croyez-vous en ce que vous voyez? Do you believe what you see?

Visiting the Leandro Erlich exhibit at the GrandPalaisRmn reminded me that what we see is not always what is true.

Was I really scaling a building as you can see in my pictures? In reality, I was lying on the floor.

A small shift in perspective changed the entire story. What looked impossible suddenly felt believable.

I saw amazing art pieces around illusion at the Grand Palais and left thinking about AI.

The question shifted for me. It was no longer simply: Do you believe what you see?

It became: Do you trust what you see?

AI can create polished images, convincing words, confident answers, and even familiar voices in seconds. Used thoughtfully, it can be an extraordinary creative tool.

But it also asks more of us.

➡️ To pause.

➡️ To look beyond the surface.

➡️ To question what seems obvious.

➡️ To use our own judgment before we accept, share, or act on what is in front of us.

The opportunity is not to fear illusion or AI but to be able to know enough to engage with them wisely and know the difference.

Technology can create an image. AI can make something feel believable.

But context, curiosity, judgment, and meaning are still deeply human.

What helps you decide whether something online is worthy of your trust?
